Start small when starting with solar energy. You can buy a solar landscape light set in a box that will save you money on outdoor lighting and reduce your carbon footprint. You can locate these at quite a few retailers, like home improvement businesses and big box retailers. The installation doesn't get much easier. They simply need to be placed along walkways, in the ground.
You can determine the efficiency of your solar panels by their density. Panels with a higher density are usually more expensive but their cost is justified since you will be able to produce a lot more power with these more performing products. Be sure and compare densities before choosing a solar panel.
It is important to preform regular maintenance to the solar energy system to help prolong the life of it. Be sure and inspect your equipment a minimum of once each month, and carefully wash your solar panels. Hire professional help for cleaning and inspection if you want, but remember that there are great savings to be had by doing such tasks yourself.
If you decide to lease your solar energy unit instead of buying it, make sure your contract offers you the ability to transfer your lease. If you do not choose this option, you might have to keep paying for a solar energy system you are not using. If you can transfer the lease, you can simply make it part of the sale or rental agreement of your home when you move.
Just because you have a lot of cloud cover does not mean you can't get solar power! Direct sunlight isn't necessary, nor is a particular temperature. A cold and sunny place can receive more sun that a hot but shady one.
